When you are building an assignment, you will see in the Settings that it asks you which Assignment Group you would like to place the assignment in.

• Assignment Groups create the ability for you to weight your course grades.
• You can manage your Assignment Groups from the Assignments tab.

Once you've finished setting up your course's Assignment Groups Weight, go to the Syllabus tab of your course to make sure that your Assignment Groups match the grading weight categories on your syllabus.
